Friday the 13th

Happy Freaky Friday!  I love Friday the 13th.  Its usually my lucky day, but I'm working all day, so we'll see how that pans out.

In celebration of Friday the 13th, I wanted to share a few freaky books!

An ancient sin. A long forgotten oath. A town with a deadly secret.
Something sinister is at work in Hyde River, an isolated mining town in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Something evil.
Under the cover of darkness, a predator strikes without warning--taking life in the most chilling and savage fashion. The community of Hyde River watches in terror as residents suddenly vanish. Yet the more locals are pressed for information, the more they close ranks, sworn to secrecy by their forefathers' hidden sins.
Only when Hyde River's secrets are exposed is the true extent of the danger fully revealed. What the town discovers is something far more deadly than anything they'd imagined. Something that doesn't just stalk its victims, but has the power to turn hearts black with decay as it slowly fills their souls with darkness.

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces the sixteen-year-old back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms -- a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Move over zombies and adolescent vampires.

There’s a new threat in town—and it’s only twelve inches tall. How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack is the only comprehensive survival guide that will help you prevent, prepare for, and ward off an imminent home invasion by the common garden gnome. Once thought of as harmless yard decorations, evidence is mounting that these smiling lawn statues are poised and ready to wreck havoc. The danger is real. And it’s here.
Class 1 gnome-slayer and gnome defense expert Chuck Sambuchino has developed a proven system—Assess, Protect, Defend, Apply—for safeguarding property, possessions, and loved ones. Strategies include step-by-step instructions for gnome-proofing the average dwelling, recognizing and interpreting the signs of a gathering hoard, and—in the event that a secured perimeter is breached—confronting and combating the attackers at close range.

The gnome book is awesome! My brother gave it to me one Christmas, and its so entertaining! Its not really "freaky" or anything, unless you're scared of lawn gnomes. Which he is, so it made reading this even better {and, yes, I totally read bits of it out loud to him after he gave it to me!}.
