In My Mailbox {11}

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

This week I had a pretty decent haul {some are from late last week, too}.  I even picked up a few Wheel of Time hardcover books at super discounted prices for my brother-in-law, who is obsessed with the series {I've yet to read it - I want to conquer all of the Outlander books first... not to mention my ever-growing TBR pile!}.

I picked up Voyager, The Fiery Cross, Drums of Autumn and An Echo In The Bone {Outlander books 3-5 and 7} from Half Price books.  I grabbed the larger paperbacks, as I've found mass market ones are a little bit harder for me to read with my kiddo running around, and the larger ones I can just leave sitting open at my most recent page.  Also, have you checked out my giveaway for the first two Outlander books??  You should enter!!

I have not read all of the Anne of Green Gables books {yes, I know you're all probably rather shocked}, but I think these beauties will be getting read very soon {thanks Hannah at So Obsessed With for sharing these amazing covers!}.

The Captive Maiden, The Merchant's Daughter and The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson.  I've read The Merchant's Daughter, and I so thoroughly enjoyed it, then found two of these on sale at a Christian book outlet.  The third was almost half off on Amazon.  Great for fans of historical Christian fiction and retellings {these are all fairy tale retellings, but The Merchant's Daughter read more like historical fiction}.

A few more discounted books I've acquired... I think I need to make a point not to buy any more books that I've not yet read, as my TBR pile is getting rather large...

~ The Red Gloves Collection by Karen Kingsbury - I've read Sarah's Song, as well as a couple other Karen Kingsbury books and really enjoyed them, so at $6 I though this would be a good one to pick up.
~ Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.  Loved this book so much.  And it finally was discounted on Amazon, so I picked it up!
~ Across the Universe by Beth Revis.  Since I picked up the final in this trilogy, I figured I should try to get the first two as well!  I've heard good things, and am hoping I invested wisely.
~ The Duchess and the Dragon by Jamie Carie.  I love historical fiction.  Love, love, love it!  And this one sounds fascinating!
~ The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna.  I actually saw this cross my Goodreads front page a while ago and thought it sounded SO interesting.  Then found it for a great price at HPB, so I picked it up!
~ The White Queen by Philippa Gregory.  I've only ever read one books by Philippa Gregory that disappointed me {mostly because of the nature of some of the content, not the story line itself}.  I watched some of the show that's based on this series, and this was only $2 at HPB.

So there is my major book haul this week!  I will most likely be banned from buying books for quite some time now, but I will have more than enough to read in the meantime *winks*.  What did you get this week?  I'd love to see your IMM, if you'd leave a comment here with a link!

In My Mailbox {10}

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

This post isn't for the week... This is basically the books I've purchased or my hubs has bought for me since Christmas, so it's going to looks like a LOT, but this is basically 3 months worth of books {some are pre-Christmas purchases as well}. And almost all are books I have not read yet, so my TBR pile is pretty much gigantic now!  I need to get reading like crazy...

John Green boxed set, featuring Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars.  I read TFiOS a while ago {well, listened to the audiobook courtesy of my local library}, and I just loved the tragic beauty of the story of Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters.  My husband go me the boxed set of John Green works for part of my Valentine's Day gift!

Marie Lu's Legend Trilogy.  I've heard great things about this set, and it was an Amazon Lightening Deal a few months ago, so I picked it up.  I will probably do the "read when I can, listen when I can" with this set, like I've done a few of the books I've read since Little D was born {thank you, KCLS, for having so many audiobooks available so quickly!}.

A huge Half Price Books haul, along with two from Amazon!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor.  Again, I've heard great things and they were less than $5/each!  Plus, I love the UK DoBaS cover that Half Price Books had!

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen.  Because everyone in the book blogger world seems to be in love with her, and it was only $2, so why not?

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs.  One of my Amazon purchases, I used some of my Christmas cash to order this one.  I really want to find out what happens next to the Peculiar Children.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi.  My other Amazon purchase.  If you've read the series, you know why I needed to get this one.  If you haven't read the series, them you need to go pick up Shatter Me.

Withering Tights by Louise Rennison.  I saw this at the library a long time ago, and have had in on my TBR list for just as long.  When I came across it at Half Price Books for only $2, I knew I should pick it up!

Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green, aka The Precious Stones/Ruby Red Trilogy by Kerstin Gier.  A series about time traveling teenagers?  I'm a total Whovian.  I love time travel!  So, yes, yes, and yes!  It was originally written in German, so only Ruby Red has an English description on Goodreads.

Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate.  I have this whole series, and read most of this a while ago.  I though this should be added to my library {and, hey, on of the only ones on this list that I've actually read!}.

Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs.  This has been on my Goodreads TBR list for a while, and when I saw it in the discount section at Half Price Books, I thought I would just pick it up.  Lord knows I could probably rack up $2 in overdue fines pretty quickly, I might as well just buy the book!

Hereafter by Tara Hudson.  Another that's been on my Goodreads TBR list for a while.  And, again, only $2 at HPB?  Yeah, I'll pick that up!

Shades of Earth by Beth Revis.  I've been wanting to read this since I read Under The Never Sky {I keep seeing them being compared to each other in very good ways}, and, while I don't actually have the first two in the series, how often can you pick up a hardcover for less than $5?

Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin.  Have you seen the previews for the movie?  This looks to be outstanding!! {Plus it was a nice Costco find!}

Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale.  Loved Austenland {both the book and the movie... Jennifer Coolidge, you rock!}, and because of how intriguing this book sounds is the whole reason I picked up Austenland in the first place.

Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon.  I read/listened to Outlander a few weeks ago.  I put off reading it for SO long {a friend recommended it to me years ago}, but, my word!, its SO good!!  I have the audiobook from said friend and am listening to it and reading it as I can.  Love these books so far!

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.  I borrowed this from the library a couple years ago, and I LOVE it.  If I ever have a daughter, I hope she loves it as much as I did.

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout.  So far I've loved everything I've read by JLA, and when this went on sale via Amazon for $5.99, I ordered it.  Can't wait to read it!

BabyLit primers!  Costco had all of these, and I just needed to pick them up for my sweet boy {and, again, if I ever have a girl...}.  Pride & Prejudice {a counting primer}, Sense & Sensibility {an opposites primer}, Jane Eyre {a counting primer}, Wuthering Heights {a weather primer}, Romeo & Juliet {a counting primer}, Moby Dick {an ocean primer}, Dracula {a counting primer} and Alice in Wonderland {a colors primer}, all by Jennifer Adams and illustrated by Alison Oliver.  These came as two-piece sets, hence having several counting primers {or maybe that's just my subconcious wanting to give Little D a head start on math, since I'm so bad at it?}.

My last fun mailbox item is actually a Kindle I won from Christy at The Reader Bee as part of her awesome blogoversary giveaways {she had three awesome giveaways that took place over the entire month!  Woot!}.  If you follow my twitter, you know I tend to tweet quite a bit about various giveaways.  I really don't ever tend to win anything, and the fact that I'd entered all three and won this... WOW!

So, yeah!  Loads of books, but this was all over the last few months!  I have a lot of reading to do, so I'll sign off with that!  What did you get this past week/month?

Stacking The Shelves {3}

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by the lovelies at Tynga's Reviews!  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

The last couple weeks I've gotten a few new eBooks as well as borrowed some audiobooks.

eBooks:
The Existence Trilogy by Abbi Glines.  I have to admit, I saw the Daemon lookalike {probably the same model from the Lux series covers}, and I totally judged the books by the covers.  Although, someone being stalked by Death while he tries to keep them alive?  Interesting.

Pushing the Limits and Dare You To by Katie McGarry.  I've seen these around the blogger world a bit, but I honestly think it was mostly various WoW posts, not actual reviews.  Both of them sound interesting, and their average rating on Goodreads is about 4.2, which means its probably pretty good.

The Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout.  I borrowed the Lux series from my library, and read through that pretty quickly {and am still waiting for my copy of Origin from them!  Darn being hold number 22 on 15 copies that aren't even available at my library yet}.  Anywho, I am borrowing these bad boys, and hoping for characters that are just as awesome as those in the Lux novels.

Also, not pictured {because I have a migraine and don't want to take the time to take a picture of it, upload it and attach it to this post}:
Audiobook:
~ The Scorch Trials by James Dashner.  Because the Maze Runner was so good and I need to listen to the next one now.

What are you stacking your shelves with this week?

Stacking the Shelves {1} + In My Mailbox {9}

In My Mailbox was a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  I've been out of the loop, and just this weekend discovered it basically went kaput when she handed it off to another blog right before having her adorable little girl.  So this weekend I'm saying goodbye to In My Mailbox, and hello to...

That's right, I'm going to be hopping over to join those of you at who participate in Tynga's Reviews' weekly meme Stacking the Shelves!  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

Most of the books I've gotten this week have been audio books to listen to with the babe.  I know I've pledged to read the written word {and I try to as much as I can}, but with a baby its really hard to do.  Between wanting to spend all the time I can with him, being a wife and working part time, I really don't have a whole lot of time for sitting down and reading, and audiobooks have helped me be able to enjoy the worlds I love in the written word.  Some of the audiobooks I've picked up this week include:

~ Insatiable by Meg Cabot.  After I picked this up cheap I realized I thought it was Abbandon, but I said I would read it anyway.  I hope to both listen and read this, like I did with

~ Austenland by Shannon Hale.  This went by a LOT faster then any of the other audiobooks I've listened to {Insurgent was a couple weeks to listen to, and Tiger Lily has been a few days}.  I started it one day and finished it the next {although I was also able to actually read the book too, which probably helped the consuming of the book go swiftly}.

I've picked up a few more for my Kindle {yay for free books!}, but the babe is awake and hungry, so off I go!

In My Mailbox {8}

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

Okay... I feel bad for neglecting my blog so much... its been over a year {!!} since I've participated on here with IMM!  Wow...  Moving on...

I had a HUGE haul this week.  I went a little crazy with the audiobooks at my library and borrowed six... and bought 7 books from Amazon with birthday money and giftcards... And borrowed one physical one from the library as well...  {and I feel like I'll be lucky to write two reviews on all of those... such is the life of a new mom!}

Audiobooks {borrowed from the library}
~ Requiem by Lauren Oliver.  I've wanted to read this for a while, and my husband actually bought me the physical copy of it for my birthday... but after listening to Insurgent last weekend, I'm now hooked on audiobooks, and had to borrow this from the library.
~ Fever & Sever by Lauren DeStefano.  I read Wither when it first came out, and have always been curious how this trilogy ends...
~ Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.  Loved Delirium and Pandemonium, so I'm hoping I'll like this since I enjoy her writing style so much.
~ Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers.  Again, I have the physical copy of this, but audio books make it so I can play with/watch my baby and still "read".
~ Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson.  I've seen mixed things about this book, but I saw it on the shelf at the library and was like "hey, I could take you home and give you a listen."

Books
{borrowed from the library}
~ The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken.  Loved Brightly Woven {l.o.v.e.d.}, and I've hear SO many good things about this book.  After having a hold request for-eh-ver, my copy finally came in!

Books
{bought}
~ The Girl With The Iron Touch by Kady Cross.  I really enjoyed the first two in this series, so I thought I would pick up the third, too!
~The Mephisto Kiss by Trinity Faegen. YES.  I finally had money for my very own copy. *clutches it happily to my chest*
~ Gates of Paradise by Melissa De La Cruz.  I've been following this series since the first one came out, and now I'm finally going to see how all the twists and turns come to a conclusion.  Bittersweet.
~ Underworld & Awaken by Meg Cabot.  Holy sweet baby Jesus.  I LOVED the first two {originally borrowed from my local library}, and I had to buy them.  Read them, you'll see why!
~ The Golden Lily & The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead.  Vampire Academy was beyond awesome, this author has a kick-butt writing style, she knows how to keep the reader on their toes and make them get so excited, happy, mad, sitting-on-the-edge-of-their-seat, and crying out "why do I have to wait?!?" when they finish a book before the next one comes out.  I bought Bloodlines a while back at a local used book store, and have been waiting to get into it until I got at least the next few *grins*.

That was my haul!  What awesomeness did you get this week?

In My Mailbox {7}

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

This week {and the last few} have been kind of interesting for me, as I now have reason to be reading these books:
Yep, the Hubs and I are hoping to welcome a little one into our family this February!  {Those of you who are wondering, we've been married almost 5 years and, no, it wasn't a teenage wedding!}  However, with all the pregnancy, birthing, etc books that I will be reading, I can guarantee I will be trying to keep up with my regular reading as well.  The most difficult part with that is the fact that Little One is sucking the life out of me and I'm tired.  A lot.

Aside from pregnancy books {which I've actually had for a while}, I picked up these gems this week...
Won:
The Reckoning by Alma Katsu {thanks to Swapna Khrishna at S. Khrishna's Books and her giveaway!} - For some reason I totally thought these were YA books, because I've kind of seen them here and there in the YA blogsphere, but they aren't.  Still definitely worth the read!

From the Library:
The Taker by Alma Katsu - Figured since I won the second one, I should start with the first, right?  Pretty interesting so far, but has been hard to read almost anything since I've been so tired!
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain - I've heard good things about this, so I figured I would give it a shot.
Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey - I have to admit, the first thing I noticed about this was major cover lovin'.  I've read good things about it, and its a 3.8 on Goodreads, which usually means its going to be pretty decent.
Immortal City by Scott Speer - I've picked this up and put it down many times while browsing the shelves at my local bookstore.  Then I realized I could just get it from the library.  I'm really hoping it will have a different take on angels, because Halo left me hating them.
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows - This one has just looked interesting from the moment I was able to read the description.  I don't think I've read anything like it, and I'm excited for when I get to start reading this one!

Purchased:
{some that I already read but didn't have in my library}
The first three in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.  I picked up the last three when I went to Powells at the end of April, and finally got a good deal on the first three!

In My Mailbox {6} + news!!

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

This week my physical mailbox was sad and lonely {on the upside: no bills!}, although I did have at least one awesome surprise: Enchanted by Alethea Kontis finally came from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for review.  Guys, this is the first physical book I've received from a publisher to review!  Yes, it was solicited {via Twitter, in an "I really want to read that!" tweet, which was responded by a direct message saying "we'll send you one!"  I think I almost died of excitement!}.

I also received One Moment by Kristina McBride from NetGalley.  I saw this on a few people's WoW posts this week, then found it on NetGalley, requested, and was approved!

I  picked up Insatiable by Meg Cabot from my local B&N from their bargain section.  Now, in all honesty, I thought I was grabbing Abandon, which has great reviews/rating on Goodreads.  I obviously don't know my Meg Cabot books seeing as I got those two confused.  But I actually picked up two copies of this because I want to add one to my blogiversary giveaway pile...

Wait... what?

Yep.  I've had this blog for almost three years now!  While I haven't been blogging on here consistently for those three years, I did want to celebrate it.  Plus, my birthday is a little over a month after that.  So, what I've decided to do is *deep breath* host a giveaway!  Now, there are some stipulations.  Like, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to host a giveaway for 15 people.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the fact that you all are subscribing to my blog, reading and commenting, but I want it to be a little more fun.  When you have a one in 15 chance of winning {which is more like maybe one in 13 at most, since some of those who subscribed did it years ago and won't enter}, its not that thrilling.  So, the stipulation is this: I will put the giveaway up on my blog between June 2nd and July 13th {my blogiversary and my birthday} if my blog reaches 50 followers.  Yep. 50.  And I'm thinking probably 4 book and some nice swag.  Or possibly even a book of your choice.  Let me know what kind of giveaway you would prefer. {Remember - I don't really get ARCs yet, so I don't have any books that have yet to be released.  It would have to be something that is out now.}

This week I picked up a couple books from the library, and realized I also have several that I got cheap/free for my Kindle {those have actually been the last couple weeks, not just this week... All were free except one! I love free!}.

Borrowed from the library:
The List by Siobhan Vivian
Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Bought for the Kindle:
{Most of these were downloaded from Amazon free, and I picked them because the descriptions sounded interesting.}
Open Minds by Susan Kaye Quinn - I tried to win this almsot a dozen times on Goodreads, so it was a shock and a thrill to see it for $2.99 on Amazon for my Kindle!
Savage Cinderella by PJ Sharon
Awake: A Fairytale by Jessica Gray
Tangled Tides by Karen Amanda Hooper
Errant (Killer Unicorns) by Diana Peterfreund {yes, the very same who wrote For Darkness Shows the Stars}
Glimpse by Stacey Wallace Benefiel

I would love to see what you got in your mailbox this week!  Please leave a link in your comment so I can find it =)

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out!

This week was a great week for me! I ordered some books I'd been waiting for, as well as picking up a couple from my local used book store and receiving one I'd won in the mail.
From Amazon:
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Claire - I've been reading this series from the get go... I wasn't the biggest fan of City of Fallen Angels, but it did get better towards the end, and I really just need to know what happens!

Destined by Aprilynne Pike - the last in the series, so looking forward to how she's going to have it go down.

Thumped by Megan McCafferty - read the first one and tell me you don want to read the second. So entertaining.

From the bookstore:
Faery Tales & Nightmares by Melissa Marr - I really liked her Wicked Lovely books, so I figure this should be good.
A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly - I've heard good things about this.

Won
Of Poseidon by Anna Banks {courtesy of the lovely Wendy Darling at The Midnight Garden - would you believe my blog post was why I won?} - Been dying to read this!  It is definitely the next book I'm reading off my list!
I also got some neat swag from Wendy - A couple Hunger Games things {poster & pin}, a cute Pooh pin, and a couple bookmarks {one of which is signed}

In My Mailbox

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks... you'll just have to come and check it out! *Disclaimer: I don't know exactly what happened a couple/few weeks ago about this, but I'm still participating.  If you choose not to, or are doing a different weekly show-and-tell, I would still love to read about it!*

I already wrote about my Powells stash in the last post, and since that wasn't technically this last week, but the week before, I feel good about not having those in this weeks IMM.  However, I did run and pick up a couple books I didn't find at Powells when I got home:

Is it just me, or was Julie Kagawa's The Iron Queen the most difficult out of all of her books to find?  I had to go to 3 different store to finally get my hands on a copy {and each store had all of the other Iron Fey books except this one!}.  And Wendy Higgins' Sweet Evil?  Well, I got lucky that my local Barnes and Noble put it on the shelves a day early!  I was planning on reading that while all doped up after surgery, but I honestly have been too exhausted to even read.  I know, its a bit ridiculous, and I'm really hoping this week is the one that really starts to make the healing process turn around.

Well, that's my little stash for this week!  Thanks for stopping by, and if you leave a comment, please leave a link to your IMM as well {I LOVE reading about the books fellow bloggers have picked up}.

PS - I think this was "beautiful cover" week for me as well.  I love all the Iron Fey covers, and Sweet Evil is gorgeous!

Powells Stash

I was originally going to write this as a slightly late IMM, but I didn't get a chance to get to it before my surgery on Tuesday {so far healing up fine, thanks!}.  And I figured I would write it later, but that didn't happen because I've been so out of it since my surgery that the only REALLY coherent times I have are when my painkiller starts to wear off.  Okay, enough of that rambling... on to the stash!

About half of these are {obviously} continuations for a series I've been meaning to finish {or in some cases even just start}.  Yes, there are two little American Girl Short Stories on the top of that pile.  I've been a huge fan of Kirsten since I was a kid {I even have the doll!}, and now that she's been discontinued, I want to try to get as many of her books as I can.  Plus, they were only $2/each.

Carrier of the Mark was kind of picked up on a whim.  I saw it there on the shelf, for only $6 and thought, I'm pretty sure I've read good reviews of this.  So I grabbed it.  Have you read it?  Did you like it?

Divergent was picked up for the obvious reason: these books have taken over the blogger world by force, so I really felt like I needed to pick this one up.

Forever by Judy Blume is honestly something I heard was good for parents to read before their children "come of age".  The hubs and I don't have any kids yet, but I thought it would be something good to pick up in anticipation for the day we might need this.

The Faerie Ring I've already read.  I loved it, and you can find my review here.  This was one I saw {again, used and a great deal + no tax!}, and I knew I needed it on my bookshelf.

I haven't read any of the Iron Fey series {I know, I know}, so those were on my list of must buy while at Powells... Oddly enough, they didn't have the Iron Queen, nor did any other bookstores around there.  Kind of weird.  Just a guess, but is that most people's favorite book in the series?

Thirst no. 4... I've read the first one, and I really enjoyed it.  The rest have been on my bookshelf, waiting to be read.  I picked this one up because it was only $5 and finished off the set for when I did decide to pick them up and do a read through.

The last 3 of the Vampire Academy series.  I've read the first three on my Sony Reader {yep, got that a few years back, and its now pretty much collecting dust.  But I can't get rid of it, because I have a TON of books on it}, and for some reason I just didn't finish the series.  Probably because I didn't ever purchase the others... so I thought this would be a great time to pick them up... and wouldn't you know that I found them all for super cheap, and they're hardcover copies {I have a thing for hardcovers}.

So, that's my stash.  Yeah, there were other books I wanted to get, but between needing the rest of my cash for food and a way home, this was it.  Oh, and I did pick up a couple new journals and a map of lighthouses down the BC/WA/OR coast {the hubs and I are lighthouse junkies}.

In My Mailbox

This is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Its a great way to show what you won/bought/borrowed each week {or so}.  I might write one each week, but most likely every couple/few weeks as, while I love to read, I have many other things that take up my time and at the moment am not winning or being given any books for review {this is not my choice... I would love to make the excuse of "needing" to read a good book so I can review it!}.

This week I'm kind of doing a reverse IMM.  I'm going to an amazing book store at the end of the month, and am trying to come up with a great list of books that I need to purchase there.  I have some Amazon giftcards saved up to purchase some book from them as well {mostly just new ones, as that's the cheapest place I can find them}.  But I need some help.  Other than my list of a few randoms {and the last three of the Iron Fey and Vampire Academy books}, I'm honestly at a loss as to what I should get!  I need suggestions, peeps!  Like I stated, I only review books I've purchased, borrowed from the library or have had loaned to me, as I haven't really been around as a blogger long enough to get publishers wanting to send me books.

So, what I'm asking is for anyone reading this to comment with a title or two of books they think I just really need to pick up {preferably ones a year or so old, since I can get those used at the amazing Powells}.  Authors I love would be the likes of Melissa De La Cruz, PC Cast, Cassandra Clare, Aprillyne Pike, Melissa Marr, Stephenie Meyer... I've also read a good deal {if not all} of these authors' books, so I'm looking for a different author, not just other works by the ones I listed.  Please help!

Oh, and the one thing I did pick up this week is something I love to listen to while reading: The Black Keys' album El Camino.  Wonderful music.

I've loved my local library for decades, but I haven't really taken advantage of it in the past few years.  Its a shame, really.  The library was a little safe haven of sorts for me when I was younger, and as I got older and had jobs that paid me decently, the local Borders took its place.  Alas, Borders is gone, so its back to the library for me {yes, I know Barnes & Noble is out there as well as other lovely bookstore, but Borders was my favorite}.  I went to my local library today after going to Half Price Books yesterday, and I now have 6 books I need to read... well, 5 books and a graphic novel...

Borrowed:
Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen
Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel
The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton

Bought:
Austenland by Shannon Hale
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
Vampire Academy: The Graphic Novel by Richelle Mead (Author), Emma Vieceli (Illustrator), Leigh Dragoon (Adapter)

The nice thing about borrowing books from the library?  I have to spend more time reading that doing other frivolous things... I think I can do that ;-)

UPDATE:

I joined NetGalley this last week, and I actually won a copy of Tomorrow Land by Marni Mancusi!  So I'll be picking that up to read via the good ol' Kindle in the next few days...
